Be still, and know that I am God. — Psalm 46:10

 Hi Teresa,

Healing doesn't mean forgetting. It means believing you can carry both love and hope.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes the hardest part of healing isn't the beginning?

It's the moment when life begins to feel possible again.

You catch yourself laughing.

You make plans a few weeks ahead.

You enjoy a quiet afternoon.

And then almost immediately, a thought creeps in...

"Should I feel guilty for this?"

"Am I leaving them behind?"

"Does healing mean I'm forgetting?"

If you've ever wrestled with those questions, I want you to know something today.

You are not alone.

In fact, this is one of the most common conversations I have with clients. Not because they love their person less, because they love them so deeply that moving forward can almost feel like betrayal.

Healing has never asked us to forget.

Healing invites us to learn how to carry love differently.

What I've Been Learning

During the past month in coaching sessions, grief groups, 9D breathwork experiences, and even while recording new episodes of Female Voices: Life & Loss Podcast, I've noticed one beautiful thread connecting so many stories.

People aren't asking..."How do I stop grieving?"

They're asking..."Can I trust myself again?"

  • Can I trust myself to make decisions?
  • Can I trust that joy doesn't mean I've stopped loving them?
  • Can I trust my body after everything it has been through?
  • Can I trust that God is still writing a beautiful story, even if this chapter isn't the one I would have chosen?

One of the messages I recently shared on the podcast is that stories have a way of reaching places advice never can. Sometimes the most healing words we hear are simply,    Me too.

I see that every week.

Someone shares a piece of their story.

Someone else quietly wipes away a tear.

Neither one feels quite so alone.

That is where healing begins.

A Gentle Truth

Our brains are designed to protect us. After loss, they begin scanning for what might hurt next.

That doesn't mean you're broken. It means your nervous system has learned survival.

Healing isn't convincing your mind that nothing bad will ever happen again.

Healing is gently teaching your body that moments of peace can exist alongside moments of grief.

You don't have to choose between missing them and living your life. You can do both.

A Story That Might Sound Familiar

A client recently shared something that stopped me in my tracks.

She said,

"For the first time in a long time, I caught myself making plans for the future... and then I almost canceled them because it felt wrong to move forward."

Maybe you've felt that too.

Another woman recently shared,

"I always thought asking for help meant I was failing. Now I'm beginning to wonder if asking for help might actually be part of healing."

Different stories. Different losses. The same quiet invitation. To trust themselves again.

A Practice for This Month

When your mind says..."I can't..."  Try replacing it with..."Maybe..."

Instead of..."I'll never feel like myself again."

Try..."Maybe I'm becoming someone new."

Instead of..."I'll never experience joy again."

Try..."Maybe joy can visit me again."

Instead of asking, "What should I be doing?"

Place your hand over your heart and ask..."What do I need today?"

Not next month. Not next year. Just today. Sometimes healing begins with listening to the answer.

Becoming...

A few months ago, I unlocked the doors to Becoming: A Space to Breathe, Heal & Begin Again.

Every week I watch people walk through those doors carrying stories they thought they had to carry alone.

I've watched tears become laughter.

Fear become courage.

Silence become conversation.

Hope begin to return.

Whether through one-on-one coaching, grief recovery, support groups, breathwork, workshops, or simply sitting together in a safe space, I continue to be reminded that healing rarely happens in isolation.

It happens in connection.

Thank you for allowing me to walk beside so many of you.

It is one of the greatest honors of my life.
